InVitro is pre-release software and is not on sale yet. Prices and licence terms on this site are provisional.

Licence terms

A plain-language summary of the terms InVitro will be sold under. Licensing is not built yet and these terms are provisional; the agreement shown by the installer will be the binding text.

Free Imager / Viewer

  • Free for any use, including commercial and government casework.
  • Install it on as many computers as you like.
  • No warranty beyond what the law requires.

Recovery, Forensic and Complete

  • Perpetual right of use for every version released while your maintenance is active.
  • Maintenance: the first year is included. Renewal is yearly at about 27% of the licence price, and a late renewal runs from the previous end date. It covers new versions and e-mail support.
  • Term licences run one year at about 40% of the perpetual price, with updates and support. When the term ends, the program runs as the free viewer.
  • Seats: one licence is one activated computer at a time. Deactivate it on one computer to move it to another.
  • Activation will be online, or by request file for computers that never connect. A perpetual licence will not need the network again once activated.
  • Who may use it: the licensee named in the licence, and its employees and contractors working on its cases.
  • Licensee stamp: reports, exports and acquisition logs made with a paid edition are to carry the licensee's name and licence id, and the stamp may not be removed.
  • Not allowed: sharing a licence key outside the licensee, or reselling licences except through an authorised reseller.
  • Your cases stay yours: an ended licence never locks a case. The free viewer always opens, browses and exports it.

Academic teaching licence

Free teaching licence for accredited courses (classroom use, not casework). Renewable yearly. Teaching only: not for paid casework or research contracts.

Third-party components

InVitro includes open-source and third-party components under their own licences. Their notices are listed under Help, then About, and will ship with the installer.
